
Wild weather has swept across parts of New Zealand overnight, with the Tauranga-Taupō River now having peaked.
In Wellington, strong winds tore the roof off a house, flinging it two streets away, while Fire and Emergency responded to dozens of weather-related incidents.
Northland, Auckland, and Waikato received over 20mm of rain, and power outages have affected homes across the central North Island, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, and the Manawatū-Whanganui region.
MetService has issued strong wind warnings for Hawke’s Bay and Tararua District, as well as snow warnings for SH94 to Milford Sound and SH73 at Arthurs Pass, both effective from 2pm today.

OMG! Who would have thought, snow in Arthurs Pass in winter!? All this freaking out about the weather all the time is ridiculous…. It’s just weather.
