Wayne Brown wins second term in landslide

Wayne Brown news

Wayne Brown has been re-elected as Auckland’s mayor with a commanding lead of about 90,000 votes over challenger Kerrin Leoni.

Declaring this his final term, Brown said he was humbled by the result and intends to complete unfinished reforms, particularly around Auckland Transport, whose powers have recently been shifted to councillors.

Joined by returning deputy mayor Desley Simpson, Brown promised further improvements to public transport and infrastructure, including the City Rail Link and the new International Convention Centre.

Auckland’s voter turnout remained low at around 24 percent, one of the lowest in the country.

  1. Nothing like a chocolate brownie
What choice was there in reality?
It was either Brown or a dose of re fried racial quota

  2. The following quotation has been attributed to Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813).
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
Alexander Tytler a Scottish historian described a repeating cycle in history (Tytlers Cycle). He had found that societies went through this same cycle again and again, and that the cycle lasted roughly 200 years each time.
From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.
When the turnout (number of votes counted) for the recent local body elections ranges from 24% to 45% of eligible voters, then we are in the apathy/dependence stage with bondage/slavery stage just around the corner. 2040 would be the end of the 200-year cycle for New Zealand, which coincidentally, coincides with He Puapua replacing democracy.

    • Democracy is ‘Demonarchy’
      Mob rule
The minority ruling over the majority
      Its all Jewish folks
Which is why we are all reminded on a continuous basis that it is such a good thing
And has to be good for You
A power block and impediment to freewill and determination
Being of a temporal ephemeral transient nature

  3. I recall listening to Brown on the radio while driving. He clearly explained a number of things that restricts his cost cutting measures.

There were, while he was Mayor, he still only had one vote. Convincing counsellors to restrain spending on unnecessary luxuries, or expensive projects in counsellors areas was a struggle.

He said unlike central government, he cant just print money. Probably a good thing to.

I am in the Wellington district. We here are facing a ridiculous deficit projected to be some 286% of its income. Now Angry Andy Little is mayor or should i say nightmare, I suspect we are done.

The switch to contractors rather than inhouse employees seems to be one of the downfalls as companies aim to make a 100% margin.

Is central government asleep at the wheel? You would think it would be simple to require local authorities to detail thier spending for approval.

We are not a rich country. We are still borrowing something like $75 million a day.
