Five people were injured when a helicopter lost control and crashed into trees just steps from Huntington Beach in California on Saturday afternoon (local time).
The chopper appeared to suffer a rear rotor failure, spinning out of control before being cushioned by palm trees lining the beach.
Two occupants were rescued from the wreck, while three people on the ground were also hurt, police said.
The crash occurred near the sold-out “Cars ‘N Copters on the Coast” event at the Waterfront Beach Resort, though it remains unclear whether the helicopter was part of the showcase. All victims were taken to hospital in unknown condition.
