Police seek man acting suspiciously in Woodend Beach

Police in Waimakariri are appealing for public assistance after a woman was left shaken by a suspicious approach at Woodend Beach late yesterday morning.

The incident occurred around 11am, when a man believed to be in his 50s or 60s, and accompanied by a small dog, allegedly approached the woman. No other identifying details have been provided by police.

Sergeant Florent Chargelegue said no one was injured but confirmed the encounter caused significant distress.

Officers are urging the man involved, or anyone who witnessed the interaction, to come forward to help clarify what happened.

“We’re reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings and to call Police on 111 if they feel unsafe or notice anything suspicious,” Sergeant Chargelegue said. Information can be provided to Police via 105, quoting reference number 251205/6643.
