New Zealand Rugby has appointed Steve Lancaster as its new chief executive after six months in the interim role.
NZR chair David Kirk said Lancaster earned the position through strong leadership, credibility and his understanding of both elite and community rugby.
During his interim tenure, NZR appointed a new All Blacks coach and several senior executives.
Lancaster, a former Crusaders player and long-time rugby administrator, said he was honoured to lead the organisation and remained focused on strengthening rugby’s role in communities while building success across the game.
