Storm crush Broncos 20-46 as Brisbane’s freefall continues

Melbourne piled further misery on Brisbane with a commanding 20-46 victory at Suncorp Stadium, handing the Broncos their ninth consecutive home defeat and 13th loss from their past 15 matches.

Cameron Munster orchestrated a dominant Storm performance while winger Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown crossed for a hat-trick, with Melbourne’s reunited spine of Munster, Jahrome Hughes, Harry Grant and Sua Fa’alogo proving far too potent for the struggling hosts.

Ezra Mam provided some attacking spark with two tries for Brisbane but endured another difficult night defensively as the Broncos conceded at least 30 points for the sixth time this season, a first in the club’s 38-year history.

The heavy defeat leaves Michael Maguire’s side languishing in 15th place and facing the prospect of a bottom-four finish just a year after reaching the NRL grand final, further intensifying scrutiny over the coach’s future.
