Two found dead at south Auckland property

Police are investigating a serious incident in Wattle Downs, South Auckland, after a woman and a man were found dead at a residential property this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to an address on Gambare Place at about 1.45pm following reports of an unresponsive woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police subsequently searched the property and located a man who was also pronounced dead.

Cordons were established around Mahia Road, with police urging the public to avoid the area while the incident remains under investigation.

Nearby Te Haikura a Kiwa and Leabank Primary School were placed into lockdown as a precaution. Both schools have since lifted their lockdowns, with Leabank Primary confirming all students, staff and others on site were safely accounted for.

Police said further information would be released when available.
