A police constable has been charged with carrying out an indecent act on a girl aged under 12 following an investigation into alleged offending that occurred while he was off duty.
According to state-funded media, Acting Waitematā District Commander Superintendent Matt Laurenson said the matter was first reported to police in early 2025 and subsequently investigated, with a charge filed against the officer in October of that year.
The constable has been stood down from his duties while the case proceeds through the courts. Police said they were unable to provide further comment while the judicial process remained underway.
