2026 celebrates the 28th Anniversary of Burn the Floor, with the Australian production returning to New Zealand for a 6-city national tour, 1- 6 September.
Burn the Floor has grown into a global phenomenon, selling more than four million tickets across theatres in over 30 countries. Highlights include its Broadway debut in 2009/10 at the Longacre Theatre, three seasons at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End, and in 2026 the company returns to Japan for its record-breaking 13th tour.
The show is also seen by more than one million people each year through its four permanently installed productions with Norwegian Cruise Line, performed aboard the ships Viva, Prima, Breakaway and Epic, sailing every week from ports including Miami, Barcelona and Copenhagen since 2012. This year’s tour, titled Luminous, is created and directed by Jason Gilkison and reflects the energy, colour and passion that the dancers bring to the stage every single night.
Director Jason Gilkison sets an uncompromising standard and comments: “Burn the Floor isn’t just a show, it’s a movement. From the very beginning, we set out to shatter every expectation of what ballroom dance could be. Burn the Floor has always been about pushing boundaries and that hunger to evolve is what has kept us alive and thriving.”
The cast will consist of Australian resident dancers Jorja Freeman (Australian Champion, Dancing with the Stars), Gustavo Viglio (International Champion, Dancing with the Stars), Talia Fowler (winner of So You Think You Can Dance Australia) and Rome Champion and will be joined by international artists Anaï Riera (winner of Dancing with the Stars France), Marcella Solimeo (South Africa), Erika Attisano (Switzerland), Carlotta Liardi (Italy), Igor Gutan (Moldova), Matteo Lumetta (Italy) and Giovanni Tesse (Italy), with musical direction by Tyler Azzopardi.
