Former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar dies aged 44

Bob Bryar, the longest-serving drummer of My Chemical Romance, was found dead at his Tennessee home at the age of 44, just two days before Thanksgiving.

Authorities have not disclosed his cause of death but stated there is no suspicion of foul play, as his belongings, including weapons and music equipment, were untouched.

Bryar, last seen alive on November 4, was discovered in a “badly decomposed” state alongside his two dogs, which were taken by Animal Control.

Known for his tenure with the band from 2004 to 2010, Bryar contributed to iconic albums like The Black Parade before his departure, which was reportedly due to tensions within the group.

After leaving the music industry in 2014, Bryar became a real estate agent and dedicated his efforts to animal rescue advocacy.

In 2021, he auctioned his last My Chemical Romance drum set to support a Tennessee animal sanctuary. Bryar had openly shared his struggles with mental health following his exit from the band, describing his battles with depression and suicidal thoughts.

Despite My Chemical Romance’s scheduled 2025 tour, Bryar was not part of the lineup, which currently includes Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, and Mikey Way.
