Sam Rivers, the bassist and founding member of US nu metal band Limp Bizkit, has died aged 48, the group announced in a heartfelt tribute calling him “the soul in the sound.”
The cause of death has not been revealed. Rivers, who co-founded the band in 1994 alongside Fred Durst, John Otto, and DJ Lethal, helped shape the late-90s nu metal scene with hit albums like Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water.
