Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers dies at 48

Sam Rivers, the bassist and founding member of US nu metal band Limp Bizkit, has died aged 48, the group announced in a heartfelt tribute calling him “the soul in the sound.”

The cause of death has not been revealed. Rivers, who co-founded the band in 1994 alongside Fred Durst, John Otto, and DJ Lethal, helped shape the late-90s nu metal scene with hit albums like Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. DJ Lethal praised Rivers’ musical legacy and charitable work, asking fans to respect his family’s privacy. The cause of death is yet to be released.
