A rare New Zealand manuka honey priced at £2,000 a jar is selling strongly at Harrods.
The product, made by Manuka South, is in high demand despite its cost. It comes from bees feeding almost entirely on remote South Island manuka bush.
The honey is harvested only in rare conditions, which occur once every few years. It is then aged for 1,400 days and rigorously tested for quality and potency.
The result is an ultra-high MGO 2190 rating, well above medical grade. Each jar is presented in a luxury case with walnut, leather and gold detailing.
A Harrods spokesperson told the Daily Mail repeat customers are driving steady sales, especially among wealthy international buyers. Manuka honey is valued for its antibacterial properties and medical use, though its taste is often described as strong or medicinal.
A YouTuber who tried it with a sausage roll said the flavour was grassy but rated it highly, calling the unusual pairing surprisingly good.
Well just proves people with money to waste can be incredibly stupid.
