50 police staff improperly accessed file on officer Lyn Fleming’s death

Lyn Fleming death news

An internal investigation has revealed that 50 New Zealand police employees, including civilian staff, accessed sensitive files related to the death of Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming without valid work-related reasons.

Fleming died on New Year’s Day after being struck by a vehicle while on foot patrol in Nelson, becoming the first policewoman killed on duty in New Zealand.

Following her death, police audited the National Intelligence Application (NIA) and found 76 staff had legitimate access, but 50 did not.

All 50 received formal warnings. Misuse of the NIA is tracked and can lead to serious consequences, including dismissal or criminal charges, though most cases result in warnings.

  1. Don t you think that employees of dpt of justice respect the law.
They know they will get total impunity from this institution.
Not only in New Zeeland, but everywhere in western societies
