Alan Duff, renowned for his novel Once Were Warriors, argues that social welfare is depriving Māori of self-dignity and fostering a victim mentality that perpetuates poverty.
In a recent interview on Newstalk ZB’s ‘Real Life with John Cowan, Duff expressed his belief that welfare policies, particularly those introduced by Helen Clark’s Labour government, have led to a generational dependency that stifles progress, saying that education, not welfare, is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering Māori to take control of their futures.
Duff also reflected on the impact of his Duffy Books in Homes initiative, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. The program, designed to provide new books to children in need, has distributed over 14 million books and made a significant difference in the lives of many young people. Despite acknowledging that reading alone cannot solve all challenges, Duff highlighted the importance of encouraging children to aspire, love, and be loved, saying these values are crucial for nurturing their potential.
Good to see someone spouting a voice of reason. Makes sense really.
OK…go get educated and trained in a trade…
And, in the end, if you’re blacklisted despite the additional training and education, you’ll still be…UNEMPLOYED OR MINIMALLY-EMPLOYED IN A GIG JOB!
And, as a result, you’ll be forced to become a ‘Beneficiary’ after you lose your racially-quoted government job that paid about 22% above the minimum wage.
Those who have some funds would be best to purchase isolated land, dig an underground home, put in a well and septic tank, install solar power, and grow your own food.
Keep a fire bottle ready, preferrably the flight line type that you see at the airfields.
That way, you will never become a ‘Beneficiary’ under the control of a homocidal government that forced a bio-weapon vaccine on you!
Oh, BTW…don’t forget your sniper firearms and Vietnam-styled VC booby traps around your property to keep the governmental parasites that pass for ‘government-appointed employees’ from entering your property and pulling their bullshit of census-taking with intrusive, profiling questions.
Are you red, yellow or green-stickered on your mailbox? That profiles you in the NWO / WEF plans to incarcerate and murder you, Red=Immediate snuffing. Yellow= Possibly re-education Green=politically-correct and pussified to any authority.(can’t think for themselves…)
And..IF we are invaded, you can then brush-up on your Guerilla Tactics (The Big G.T.)!!!
That’s all good and well but what about jobs?
Yup dead right! I tautoko these views. Same thing happened in America, black people had built the own schools and universities but then the keha stepped in and caused havoc just like in NZ – keep the natives dumb and dependent. Unfortunately we have turncoat Maori creating more of the same shit! We were once a strong self-sufficient people, we can do it again!
He’s totally correct. My husband used to run a large manufacturing business. The minute they bought in WFF no one would do any overtime. Free money, no incentive to get ahead and best of all have more kids, get more money. It took away any real drive in people.
Of course it was all by design. Enslave people and make them dependent on the government then the government can control them.
CBDC and you will own nothing, live here, work there, shut up and do as they’re told or else a jackboot to the head pretty much.
Decades of gutless sell out bought off politicians.
Duff’s book “Maori, the crisis and the challenge” is just over 30 years old now. He was right way back then, and he’s still on the money now.
All that’s changed in the intervening time is the Maori elites have got a truckload wealthier whilst neglecting their iwi and growing ever bolder at blaming Whitey.
Kudos to Duff for the legacy and his foresight
It’s bankrupting the country too. The Bible says if you don’t work, then don’t eat.
