Two of the three men implicated in the Auckland public projects bribery and corruption scandal have lost their name suppression.
Legacy media reported today that Daud Suryantyo and Henry Semiti Rogo were charged following an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
The trio is accused of misappropriating approximately $3.5 million in public funds, as first reported by legacy media in December. The alleged illicit payments were connected to projects for the Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) and Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA).
While Suryantyo and Rogo have been named, the third accused still has name suppression. A District Court judge denied his request to maintain this suppression, though he has 10 working days to appeal the decision.
The SFO alleges Suryantyo exploited his roles at both RFA and CMDHB to funnel contracts to Trinity Construction Limited and another company linked to the third defendant.
Rogo, who once directed Trinity Construction Limited, has pleaded not guilty alongside the third defendant. Suryantyo has not yet entered his pleas.
The SFO claims the defendants hid their personal and business ties from public entities, with Suryantyo personally benefiting from bribes. The investigation was initiated after RFA, now integrated into Tātaki Auckland Unlimited Limited, alerted the SFO to suspicious activities.
