Paulina Hanna was found dead in her Remuera home on Easter Monday, 2021.
Her husband, Philip Polkinghorne, a retired eye surgeon, is charged with her murder.
This morning at the commencement of the murder trial, Polkinghorne pled guilty to possession of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe, which had been suppressed from reporting until now.
The jury of nine women and three men will focus on the remaining charge of murder over the next six weeks.
Hanna’s death had been treated as “unexplained” for 16 months until charges were laid against Polkinghorne, who maintains his innocence.
In his initial statement, he expressed shock at the charges and confidence in the judicial process. Following extensive police investigations, Polkinghorne retired from his position at Auckland Eye. Hanna’s career was distinguished by her contributions to the public health system.
I felt she had a sudden death type situation and had just been vaccinated.
There was no cause of death (cod) reported at the time, do they actually know the cod?
“Vaccines” were no available in time of her death. They started jabbing around 6 months later
The vaccines were indeed available and the newspapers originally reported that she was involved in the rollout of the vaccines in some sort of coordination role. People in certain roles, especially in healthcare (like her) and border workers were the first to receive the vaccines.
No they do not, but they will blame him, and never blame the safe and effective vax.
Okay, so she died on Easter Monday, April 2021. First batch of vaccines arrived in NZ on 15 February 2021. She was 63 and was a top health director at the Counties Manukau District Health Board where she was involved in the DHB’s COVID-19 work. What are the chances she *wasn’t* vaccinated? She was quite likely one of New Zealand’s first ‘sudden deaths’.
Yes, I distinctly remember it reported that she had just been vaccinated only a week or so prior. It stuck in my mind quite clearly.
Surely the prosecution needs a cause of death. Not just a mysterious situation.
It was reported at the time she had just received her vaccination only a week before.
Her husband had just made her a cup of tea to have in bed, which was her habit before getting up.
She was a remarkable looking woman, not sure why he’d want to murder her.
Perhaps the prosecution has a motive that makes it feasible? And of course the c.o.d. with a full autopsy report.
It would be hard to administer methamphetamine to someone without them being fully aware of a dose large enough to cause death. The taste would be vile and it would come up in a toxicology report, and even if there was methamphetamine in her blood it is not likely it was taken involuntary, as I said it’s not something that you would not notice immediately. The methamphetamine seems a bit of a scandal but an unlikely cause of death.
Agreed, however I believe it was initially reported she had had it the day before, then the herald or stuff or whoever it was changed the article and took that bit out. Many people saw it how it was initially reported.
I believe the meth is just a side issue, anyway we shall see I guess.
