A 36-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in Auckland District Court charged with murder and wounding with intent following an unprovoked stabbing on a Glen Innes bus that left a 59-year-old man dead and another seriously injured.
Arrested in the Auckland CBD on Tuesday, the accused was granted interim name suppression and will reappear in the High Court in January.
Police have launched a homicide investigation and confirmed both victims were travelling on the 76 bus from Glen Innes to Ōrākei when the attack occurred.

Why is there name suppression. DTNZ ran story yesterday or day before with name and picture ,WHERE IS THAT GONE.
Good point. The offender’s name and photo was released by police yesterday and publicised widely by media and on social media. Despite this the court granted him interim name suppression today, and we have no option but to comply with the order.
Thank you for the explanation. DTNZ is the only new zealand news site i bother with and i thank you for all your diligent work. Question, why do the nz judiciary protect the criminals?. Do i dare say maybe they are all criminals too,or is that naughty
