Data from the Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion indicates persistent gaps between business expectations and actual conditions, while retailers report continued cost pressures and discounting before Christmas.
Insolvency practitioners say election-year uncertainty and ongoing Inland Revenue debt recovery activity are adding pressure, alongside January cashflow demands such as GST, PAYE, FBT, and provisional tax obligations, with insolvency appointments reported across multiple sectors and regions.
