A tragic accident unfolded in Palmerston North today as a young child died after being struck by a car in a residential driveway on Terry Crescent.
Police were notified of the incident at 1:15 p.m., shortly after the child was taken to the hospital by family members. Efforts to revive the child were unsuccessful.
The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a thorough scene examination at the property, and officers are in the process of speaking with family members to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“We are working to support the family following this tragic event,” said Detective Senior Sergeant David Thompson.
At this time, police have not released further details.
