Class action suit challenges Queensland child gender treatment restrictions

Up to 500 children are reportedly covered by a class action lawsuit challenging the state of Queensland’s restrictions on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in the public health system.

The case, brought on behalf of a 12-year-old, is structured so that any child affected by the rules is automatically part of the lawsuit unless their family actively chooses to drop out. The suit seeks an apology and up to $50,000 compensation per child for alleged discrimination and distress.

Australia’s Family First has called on Premier David Crisafulli to recall Parliament and legislate to ban puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and gender transition surgery for minors, arguing the issue should be decided by elected MPs rather than through litigation.

  1. Australia is getting as bad as the USA. This alphabet soup, rainbow nonsense belongs in waste bin of history. No one should be treating children like pharma lab rats, when what they need is a help with their mental health.
