Critical incident at Newmarket pool leaves two hospitalised

In a serious water-related incident at the Olympic Pools and Fitness Centre in Newmarket, Auckland, two individuals were critically injured.

According to a report in state media, the emergency unfolded around 7:30 p.m. on Broadway, prompting an immediate response from St John Ambulance services. Both victims, men believed to be in their 20s or 30s, were discovered unconscious at the bottom of the pool by a bystander who then attempted to assist them.

The men were quickly retrieved from the water, and lifeguards at the scene administered CPR before they were transported to Auckland City Hospital for urgent medical care. Ppolice have been notified and are expected to provide a statement regarding the incident.
