Dame Patsy Reddy appointed chair of ‘Climate Change’ Commission

Climate Change Commission news

Former Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy has been appointed as the new chair of the Climate Change Commission, Climate Change Minister Simon Watts announced.

The independent Crown entity provides advice, monitoring, and reporting to guide the country’s transition to a “climate-resilient, low-emissions future”.

Watts expressed his confidence in Dame Patsy’s ability to lead the Commission.

“As former Governor-General, she will come to the role with an extensive and distinguished career in law and governance,” he said.

Reddy served as New Zealand’s 21st Governor-General from 2016 to 2021.

Her leadership roles include chairing the New Zealand Rugby Union and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Foundation, as well as serving as a trustee of the Malaghan Institute and the Aspen Institute New Zealand.

The appointment will take effect in February 2025. Until then, Commissioner and Deputy Chair Lisa Tumahai will serve as acting chair, following the conclusion of Dr. Rod Carr’s term in early December.

Watts also announced two new commissioners, Felicity Underhill and Devon McLean, who will join the Commission in December 2024. Their terms will run until September 2028, replacing outgoing members Catherine Leining and Professor James Renwick.

Ms. Underhill brings over two decades of experience in the energy sector, with a focus on “decarbonisation” and future fuel transitions, including hydrogen programmes. Mr. McLean has had a long career in forestry and conservation.

  1. Oh goodie. These corporate state puppets must be paid well (30 pieces of silver) to push this corporate agenda out to the bewildered, even though they know its all bulls***. And what an oxymoron this is “The independent Crown entity”.

  2. But we all know by now there’s no ‘man-made’ climate change, only natural cyclical climate change, so what exactly is she going to oversee? (Answer: a giant fraud/scam/gravy train). We need doge here badly, our very own department of government efficiency ( I know, this current government is trying)

  3. Climate Clown Commission….a friend, I’m guessing, of fat cat multi national corporate pirates, wanting to a quick buck off of fear mongering pseudo science……

  4. Jobs for the boys and girls as usual. And with work experience perfectly tailored to the job at hand. But I am curious if Ms. Underhill is a Hobbit. 🤔

  5. “Decarbonisation” sounds like cleaning a shot gun after an action packed opening morning! Surely no one with half a brain wants to reduce the amount of life supporting Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere? Ain’t it the truth when one govt is replaced by another govt, nothing bloody changes.

  6. So this lady was signing bills into law as the Queens representative in NZ. And then she was/is on the board of Malaghan Institute and Aspen institute. Malaghan institute developing covid vaccines including mRNA (in NZ) and Aspen institiute with a whole bunch of globalist whores and technocrats
And now, on to having her fingers in the climate change response.

“In 2020, Vaccine Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand – Ohu Kaupare Huaketo (VAANZ) was established as part of the Government’s COVID-19 vaccine strategy, comprising the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research, the University of Otago and Victoria University of Wellington, as well as a number of local and international collaborators.

VAANZ was tasked with rapidly progressing New Zealand’s capability and capacity to develop and manufacture a COVID-19 vaccine and to lay the foundation for New Zealand’s response to future vaccine development, production and supply by supporting:

    vaccine design and development capability
    vaccine manufacturing capability and capacity
the knowledge and capability to assess efficacy and potential of global developments in a New Zealand context
links with international vaccine research organisations.

In doing so, VAANZ has built a vaccine development engine that strengthens New Zealand’s ability to protect against future infectious disease.”

Can totally ignore this b now
