Experts warn of dangers posed by rams

Waitakere news

Following the tragic deaths of an elderly couple in their Waitākere paddock, believed to be caused by a rogue ram, experts warn of the potential hazards posed by the animals.

The ram, suspected of fatally injuring the couple and injuring another family member, was shot by authorities after it showing aggressive behaviour towards them.

Derek Daniell of Wairere Rams, told legacy media that while incidents involving rams are rare, they can escalate during breeding season, becoming territorial and posing risks to humans. He cites a previous incident involving a farmer’s wife killed by a pet ram several years ago as evidence of the potential danger.

Similar concerns extend to pet stags, with Daniell saying he was aware of at least one past fatality caused by a stag. He said castration was essential for both rams and deer to mitigate potential risks.

As investigations into the deaths continue, police are working closely with the coroner, with a post-mortem examination underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the tragedy.

  1. Of course they shot it, I mean who wouldn’t want to show aggressive behavior to authorities?

If Animals were respected more in this country things like this wouldn’t happen.

Personally I feel more sorry for the Ram

  2. It’s RAM, Random Accessed Memory.
The cops shot it because of the “memory”.
Sounds too much than ‘armory’ and they got it mixed up randomly and assassinated it.

  3. We always had chicken home. And there was this majestic cock protecting its hens. Beautifull animal. He attacked my mother and made a deep wound in her thigh.
He finished his life next day , to the pleasure of the family as a ” coq au vin”

    • u sexist swine for saying ‘coq’.
And u r obviously an alcoholic sexist wino to cook that cock in wine.
SPCA will come down hard on you,
And if u r not finished then, the PETA crowd will.
And then, even to cook a cock…OMG!
The cops will be all over you for cannibalism.

A cup of Shiraz is actually THE ingredient for your recipe 🙂

      • 😂 Cooked gently for hours in a very nice burgundy with lardons, onions garlic and mushrooms. ” Bouquet garni “added ; beeing small branches of thyme, laurel and a branch of celery and also a small carrot ( thrown away when meat tender) Just to add taste to the sauce. You bind the sauce last with a ” beurre manié” which is just butter mixed with flour, to thicken the sauce. Serve with just plain boiled potatoes. Delish…
