Hurricanes and Force draw 17-All after extra time drama in Perth

The Hurricanes and Western Force played out a tense 17-17 draw in Perth, with neither side able to break the deadlock in extra time despite late chances.

Hurricanes fullback Ruben Love’s drop goal attempt struck the upright in the dying moments, leaving both teams to settle for shared points. The Hurricanes, now seventh on the table, started strong with a Fatafehi Fineanganofo try but were left frustrated by missed opportunities, injuries, and costly errors—including a bungled pass by Callum Harkin and key players failing HIAs.

Despite holding early territory, the Hurricanes trailed 14-5 at halftime after Force tries from Bayley Kuenzle and Mac Grealy. Harkin struck back with a second-half double but missed a vital conversion, allowing Force first five Ben Donaldson to level the scores with a long-range penalty.

Donaldson had another shot in extra time that narrowly missed, while Love’s final attempt rattled the post. The result keeps the Force in fifth but presents both teams with major challenges ahead—Force against the Chiefs and Hurricanes against the Brumbies.
