A Northland man accused of driving a fake undercover police vehicle has appeared in court after officers discovered firearms, ammunition and methamphetamine during a roadside stop.
Police say the incident unfolded last Thursday evening when a Holden Commodore caught attention after slipping into a police convoy outside Kawakawa Police Station. The vehicle was fitted with concealed red and blue lights in the grille, designed to mimic an unmarked police car.
Senior Sergeant Clem Armstrong said a registration check revealed the vehicle’s owner was disqualified from driving. Officers signalled the driver to pull over, arrested him and carried out a search of the car.
During that search, police allegedly found a loaded firearm beneath the driver’s seat, a 3D-printed gun, a quantity of ammunition and methamphetamine.
Armstrong said officers were pleased to remove the weapons and drugs from the community and hold the offender to account.

A 30-year-old man appeared in the Kaikohe District Court on 20 January 2026 facing multiple charges, including impersonating a police officer and unlawful possession of a restricted weapon. He is due to reappear on 20 January.
Grand Theft Auto PS 5?
Knight gripper
How did this pass a WOF if ever without being reported to the cops?
Maybe the cops will begin using the Holden under confiscation, seizure, impoundment and restitution laws, taking attention away from the Skoda fleet of both the marked & unmarked Skodas…
Was the imposter ‘Skimming’ as he went?
Oh well…
