Chinese migrant worker Jun Jiang, who fell from a scissor lift at SD Aluminium in Auckland on December 28, has died in hospital after being on life support for several days.
Jiang, who was allegedly not wearing protective gear during the incident, leaves behind a wife and 8-year-old daughter.
WorkSafe has launched an investigation into the incident. The agency says that falls from heights remain a significant risk in manufacturing.
Jiang’s family plans to have him cremated in New Zealand before holding funeral rites in China.
