Minneapolis mayor calls for calm after Federal Agent shooting

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has urged calm and restraint following another violent incident involving federal immigration agents, marking a notable change in tone after he recently told U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to “get the f— out” of the city.

Frey addressed reporters at a late-night press conference after an illegal immigrant from Venezuela was shot in the leg by a federal agent during an encounter that authorities say escalated when the agent was attacked with a shovel. Calling the situation untenable, the mayor said he was appealing for peace and emphasised that responsibility for restoring calm rested with everyone involved.

“I’m calling for peace,” Frey said, adding that city officials would do everything possible to prevent further violence.

Despite the call for de-escalation, Frey again criticised ICE’s presence in Minneapolis, arguing that federal enforcement actions were placing the city in an impossible position. He said residents were effectively being pushed into confrontations between local police and federal agents, something he described as unsustainable and dangerous.

“We cannot be at a place in America where two governmental entities are literally fighting one another,” he said, warning that ongoing clashes were creating chaos in the city.

Frey accused ICE of conduct he described as “disgusting and intolerable,” while also condemning violent behaviour by protesters. He urged demonstrators not to escalate tensions or respond to what he characterised as provocation from President Donald Trump, saying such actions ultimately harmed the city’s undocumented residents.

His remarks contrasted sharply with statements made days earlier after the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent, when Frey publicly demanded that ICE leave Minneapolis and accused the agency of undermining public safety.

On Wednesday, the mayor rejected claims that his rhetoric had encouraged violence, insisting he had consistently called for peace and never promoted attacks on law enforcement.

Federal authorities said the most recent shooting occurred after an agent opened fire on a suspect who fled a traffic stop and assaulted the agent with a snow shovel. The incident prompted further protests, leading President Trump to warn he could invoke the Insurrection Act if local officials failed to regain control.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz responded by urging the president to lower tensions, while ICE blamed state leadership for what it described as hostile and inflammatory rhetoric, calling on Minnesota officials to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

  1. Surprisingly We find Minneapolis is managing its finances responsibly, but rising costs, reduced federal support, and slow downtown recovery mean the city must budget carefully and prioritize essential services.
Minneapolis’ 2025 budget increased one major tax: the property tax levy, which rose by 6.8%—the city’s largest increase in more than a decade.
No other citywide taxes (sales tax, local option taxes, fees) saw comparable across‑the‑board increases in the 2025 budget.
That said, the margin is thin, and the city is operating under tight financial pressure.
Out of interest Detroit pulled itself up out of the quagmire in reinventing itself with tech startups mobility companies design firms and medical research centres.
The auto industry reinvigorated itself with EVs and autonomous vehicle research – although these being somewhat an unknown quantity without a clearly defined future.

    • Funniest thing Ive read today “Minneapolis is managing its finances responsibly”, billions of dollars in childcare, health, every other WELFARE!

    • So they are taxing the owners of property (mainly Whites) and letting scum from Somalia grift it away? Send them all back, and all the Moslums, from the US, NZ and every other White country.

  2. Most Auckland beaches unsafe for swimming after wastewater overflows

Dog faeces is a recognized contributor to contamination on some Auckland beaches, although it is not the only or even the main source.
Most high‑risk alerts come from wastewater overflows, but Auckland Council’s own investigations show that dog waste can add to faecal bacteria levels, especially after rain.
Dog waste contains high levels of E. coli and other pathogens.
When left on sand, grass, or paths near the coast, rain washes it into stormwater drains and then directly into the sea.
Animal faeces (dogs, birds, livestock) are also identified contributors in some catchments.
Auckland currently has about 130,000 registered dogs, based on the most recent Auckland Council data.
Auckland Council estimates that there are tens of thousands of unregistered dogs in the region — most commonly cited figures range from 50,000 to 70,000 unregistered dogs.
Auckland’s routine beach pollution figures do not separately measure or report dog or other animal waste washed off streets into waterways.
Hydatids was eradicated nationwide in 2002 after decades of dog‑worming and livestock controls.
Is there anything good about the place?
    Yes multiculturalism.
Tolerance diversity understanding equality … gay marriage
Auckland has gone to the dogs

    • Nope, diversity tolerance and gay marriage have all been absolutely TERRIBLE for Auckland. Wouldn’t count any of those things as “good”.

The place is a woke 3rd world cesspool, its poisonous rivers are only partially to blame.

  3. Mossad / CIA / FBI / ICE Actors in the crowds…a true Fifth Column just like in Iran presently!

  4. Every three hours, there’s a police shooting akin to this, in the USA. Only 0.8 % of cases brought against police, results in police being convicted (Lancet).
