‘Narco subs’ in the Pacific spark fears of cartel push into NZ and Australia

Pacific narco subs news
A Narco sub seized in the Pacific by Mexican authorities in 2023, with 3.5 tonnes of cocaine on board.

Stealthy semi-submersible “narco subs” linked to Mexican and South American cartels have been found near the Solomon Islands three times in the past year, intensifying concerns that major drug syndicates are expanding operations into Australia and New Zealand.

According to a report in state-funded media, experts say cartels, disrupted by Trump-era border policies and seeking new revenue streams, are increasingly targeting the Pacific’s lucrative methamphetamine and cocaine markets, even establishing temporary onshore associates and partnering with local organised crime groups.

A joint intelligence report warns of deeper cartel collaboration, while Australian authorities report soaring drug seizures and escalating violence driven by multi-group trafficking ventures.

Police say criminal networks now contract out everything from murders to drug imports via online marketplaces, often recruiting teenagers enticed by social media glamorisation. Recent cases involving 15- and 16-year-olds charged with shootings and killings highlight how syndicates exploit youth in what officers describe as a growing “supply chain of criminality.”

  1. Well, they don’t look like the vessels belong to the Viking, Carnical or Princess Cruise lines…
These semi-submersible vessels are not a problem to take out with SPACE-BASED WEAPONS and AIRBORNE PLATFORMS.
If they become fully submersible and more sophisticated, then modern day subs belonging to the various navies of the world will get to practice live-fire torpedo exercises.
This is why the NZ Navy needs to revert to solely becoming the Royal New Zealand Coast Guard if re-structured, with NO NATO commitments whatsoever!
Under Armed Neutrality, commissioning of vessels built for the 30’s to 60’s latitudes and employed in territorial coastal waters for enforcing the 200 nautical mile territorial water limit, the OFP’s would patrol those outer areas,
while the Lake-Class boats patrol the inner areas of the shore and littoral zones.

(The current ‘Coastguard’ would be upgraded to a NZDF entity, and the current Royal New Zealand Lifesaving Society would be upgraded to include domestic Air, Land & Water rescues, receiving the current Royal New Zealand Coastguard’s re-labeled smaller boats.).
These changes are cost-savers, and dedicate the NZ Armed Maritime Fleet to New Zealand’s defence and security, without wasting resources in becoming involved with governments that abide by and cause Genocides, Holodomors and Human Rights Violations by so-called ‘Allies’..!
But…these unique changes that demonstrate to the world New Zealand’s commitment to Armed Neutrality can only occur with the NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY being elected in 2026.
These changes can only happen if the NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY arrives in Parliament in 2026.

  2. NZ in catchup mode
The cuntry is going to the dogs
I see these kids coming past in school buses
I truly do wonder what sort of future they are going to have
The best years are gone I’m afraid
