A comprehensive test of New Zealand’s Emergency Mobile Alert system was executed nationwide on Sunday evening, as confirmed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The drill aimed to ensure that the system, which sends critical alerts to mobile phones during emergencies, is functioning properly.
Director of NEMA John Price told state media the alerts were important and designed to inform the populace about immediate threats to their life, health, or property.
Alerts can be region-specific depending on the nature of the threat.
Price urged the public to take these alerts seriously and act swiftly in response, while also reminding them that such alerts complement but do not replace other forms of emergency communication or natural warning signs.

My alarm went off a little while ago, bloody near gave me a heart attack.
The only time this alarm was actually used was to tell people to remain in their homes for a fake virus scare. Not for any of the disastrous storm events the last couple of years.

Previous alerts both our family mobile phones went off within 1 minute of send time. ( time sent at bottom of message) This time one mobile buzz alerted 1 minute after send but the other mobile buzz alerted 9 mins (6.19) after 6.10 send in the same lounge room. Strange delay. Exactly same server providing both mobile phones. Would a 9 mins delay in an emergency make a difference?
No but the server lives in one of the most active earthquake zones in NZ so hopefully it will die before any of us get given false MESSAGES THAT KILL US.

If anything there should be a way of opting out of the messages, I totally loathe the invasion without permission. I would rather remain blissfully unaware unless I desire to not do so.
You can turn it offf in your phone settings. I have done so.
As have I, switched off in advanced settings > wireless emergency alerts. They’re starting to prep us for the next lockdown which they’ll try to keep permanent by keeping us in fear of viruses, climate catastrophies, cow farts and any other perceived scary thing that they need to keep us safe from in their cashless15 minute cities purchasing everything online.
I won’t be staying home if they ever try that sh1t again and furthermore I know so many others who feel the same. Just f’ing try it! 🫵😡

I switched ALL my fake warning messages OFF as well as giving feedback alerting this criminal chain rattling agency to the damage they have caused by constantly providing fake and fraudulent messages.
This notorious system continuously goes off caused by “glitches” creating massive social upheaval and costing billions of dollars.

I can’t think of a more utterly stupid waste of tax payers money than these fraudulent messages. It’s pretty damn disgusted that I cannot even control my own damn phone now. Maybe the dumboernment should pay my phone bill too?
I took the battery out of my cheap Warehouse phone and that seemed to stop it as well however, I looked for a setting that would allow me to block them but I cannot find this on my cheapie Warehouse phone. Anyone out there know how? I can keep my battery out of it most of the time as I see they have let Michael Baker come back out of his Jack In the Box somewhere wherever the little shill keeps himself…It’s a no go this time parliament… and how many of you have your jab status kept secret seeing as I had to let the damn planet know mine… which is null… yet they used that excuse to say they cannot tell us their status because of privacy concerns? I have absolutely no respect for civil defence after they warned the Maori Girls school in esk valley and they all evacuated leaving other people in their houses elsewhere none the wiser. When you have people PAID to act in emergencies instead going on holiday or not responding because it’s after hours, you know the system is munted.
I have no respect for the police, the government and the medical profession in the country after the last 4 years. NONE.
We are practical people, we will be looking after ourselves and other like minded people in the future and the namby pambys and sheeple who go along and comply with all these sort of Sh1t can sort themselves out. That’s where I am at.
