One person has died and three others were injured after a car struck a tree on State Highway 23 near Whatawhata, west of Hamilton, this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Ferguson Road at around 9.10am, where two people were found with serious injuries and one with minor injuries.
Police said the Serious Crash Unit is investigating the incident, which saw Te Pahu Road and Ferguson Road closed for a time before reopening.
Hato Hone St John sent two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, and a manager to assist at the scene.
