It was a day of high drama and tension in Wellington as the Convoy 2022 NZ protest outside parliament became the subject of a more aggressive police approach.
Police have descaled at the moment but are ready to ramp up if protesters kick off again🤣😄🤡
The police built up the presence while protesters were calm… then in scrum like formations they systematically brutalised anyone they could drag out…
The usual nonsense!

A victory to NZ and a defeat to @jacindaardern both teams played beautifully after a rough start this morning, NZ Police have retired at tea. 2nd innings will be played tomorrow. 0 for 1 on day one of the Parliament Test, brought to you by the good people of Freedom loving NZ

From my experience at Ihumātao be careful, they are likely to storm you tonight when you have lowered your guard.

What I saw was NZ Police initiating use of force, be it trying to breach the protesters defensive wall, using pepper spray, or dragging protesters away and arresting them, while #Convoy2022NZ protesters used admirable restraint in holding the line – no fisticuffs or foul play. https://t.co/xKgcmwou6x
