Fatal crash, West Plains, Southland
Police can confirm one person has died following a single-vehicle crash on Ferry Rd, west of Invercargill, last night.
The car had crashed through a barrier on a bridge over Oreti River.
Police divers located the body of a female, who was the driver, in the submerged car at around 5pm today.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
The crash was reported to emergency services at about 11.30pm.
Man dies following Tauranga crash
One person has died following a crash on Welcome Bay Road last week.
Just before 8pm on 23 July Tauranga Police attended a serious car crash involving one vehicle on Welcome Bay Road, Tauranga, just before 8pm.
Unfortunately the 53-year-old male driver, who was in a serious condition in hospital, passed away yesterday afternoon in the presence of his family.
The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and enquires into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
The death has been referred to the to the Coroner.
Large boulder blocks SH 6, road closed
A large piece of the cliff wall has fallen on to SH 6 in Barrytown, Grey District and is blocking the road.
The boulder is expected to keep the road closed until around midday today.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route if possible.
