Pennsylvania officials in Lancaster and York Counties are investigating thousands of suspicious voter registration applications, believed to be fraudulent, that were submitted just before the state’s registration deadline.
Authorities reported that many of these applications shared identical handwriting, incorrect addresses, false personal information, and mismatched Social Security details.
District Attorney Heather Adams of Lancaster County confirmed that about 60% of the forms in question appear fraudulent, noting that some individuals named on the forms claimed they hadn’t applied.
Local leaders, including County Commissioner Josh Parsons, warned that such applications undermine election integrity and applauded local election staff for flagging them.
Former President Trump commented on the investigation, alleging widespread fraud in both counties and urging swift law enforcement action.
Trump’s post sparked further attention to the situation in Pennsylvania, a critical battleground state with 19 electoral votes, where shifts in voter support have historically influenced presidential election outcomes.
In 2016, Trump won Pennsylvania by a narrow margin but lost it to President Biden in 2020, making it a focal point for both parties in the upcoming election.
York County officials echoed concerns, stating that a large delivery of election materials from a single third-party organization raised red flags.
County President Commissioner Julie Wheeler affirmed the county’s commitment to election security, announcing that all registrations are undergoing scrutiny.
The York District Attorney’s Office has maintained ongoing communication with county election officials, promising criminal investigations if warranted.
