Shane Christie’s funeral was held at the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson, where the foyer and grounds were filled with attendees including family, friends, former teammates, and ex-All Blacks.
The service brought together the rugby community and wider public to farewell the 39-year-old former Maori All Black, Tasman Mako captain and Highlanders flanker, who passed away suddenly last week.

We will all miss you Shane, your Mana, your quiet power and your loyalty and great courage. You unstintingly shone a spotlight on the evil and pointed out the truth. Bless you Shane for all that you did. May you fly free.
Yes brave man, speaking courage to power. It must have felt awful having the media going after you calling you anti vax etc. I remember how you spoke out, brave, asking the questions many of us were thinking. May you rest in love Shane, one of us, you won’t be forgotten. ❤️
