According to reports, police were called just before 1pm and found a person lying on the ground on Great South Road, critically injured from a gunshot wound. The person is currently in Middlemore Hospital.
The shooting comes after a spate of high-profile gang-linked firearms incidents in the Auckland area over the past two weeks.
