A major industrial land development in Christchurch has received approval under the Government’s Fast-track consenting process, marking the 20th project cleared through the scheme and the seventh in the South Island.
The Pound Road project, proposed by Ngāi Tahu Property Development Holdings, will see a 60.4-hectare site northwest of Pound Road and east of Barters Road transformed into a large-scale industrial precinct.
Infrastructure Minister Chris Bishop and Regional Development Minister Shane Jones said the development is expected to support economic growth and create jobs in the region.
The site will include industrial lots ranging from around 2,000 square metres to 1.5 hectares, with about 50 lots planned in the first stage and 84 across the full development.
Ministers said the project is expected to contribute $451 million to the economy during construction, while future businesses operating from the site are forecast to generate hundreds of millions more.
The development is intended to support light manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and other “dry” industrial activities, alongside supporting infrastructure such as roads, landscaping and water services.

New meaning to double dipping. Chris and Shane we are watching you…..

No need to shake themselves down for koha to appease atua for the project
