Transpower’s latest draft Security of Supply Assessment warns that the risk of electricity shortages in New Zealand will rise from winter 2026—four years earlier than previously projected.
The accelerated risk is due to rapidly declining gas reserves and delays in rolling out solar, wind, and battery projects.
While demand from industry has eased slightly and some new generation projects are committed, many in the pipeline remain unconsented or uncertain.
Transpower says the gap can’t be bridged by coal or gas alone and urges faster development of renewables and battery storage.
Experts told state-funded legacy media targeted market reforms and incentive schemes could help reduce the risk of outages within a year.

But more recently, the f*#kwits have been announcing that they are coming to replace my gas meter.
I asked for the law, mandate, code or regulation that states we need to have a ‘Smart Meter’ for the gas.
They instead deferred me indefinitely.
Then, my supplier sent an e-mail 1 week later stating that Powerco will be replacing the gas meter…(before that it was another company).
Since when does Powerco handle gas distribution?
I sent the initial response with the deferral back once again to the supplier. This time I included some facts regarding the health hazards of ‘Smart Meters’, including RF sensitivity, being cooked every :15 seconds from the Smart Meter(s)’ transmitting data, and also that the utilities could be shut-off or hacked with outside ransomware.
What this shit really is,… is prepping for the :15 Minute Cities under WEF / WHO / NWO guidelines, and total control of one’s liberty.
These ‘Smart Meters’ can also be shut-down if you have low Social Credit (as in like…CHINA…!), or are experiencing being a ‘Targeted Individual’, or subject to Gaslighting and Street Theater! (see http://www.targetedjustice.com).
Powerco as we all know seem to employ those without critical thinking skills. After all, what happens to powerline pylons when you remove all bolts simultaneously as has recently happened up north?
Best advice; if you have a Rinnai water heater and a gas hob, get fitted-out with at least a 4-gas cylinder bottle bank outside, and think about purchasing an LPG- powered generator in a quiet housing, with grounded chain link fencing over the generator for EMP protection.
