The Penrith Panthers delivered one of the most dominant performances in recent NRL history, crushing the Wests Tigers 68-0 at CommBank Stadium to record the largest victory margin in the club’s history.
The runaway win eclipsed Penrith’s previous record and further strengthened the competition leaders’ premiership credentials.
Nathan Cleary was at his brilliant best, orchestrating the Panthers’ attack with precision and finishing with 22 points through a try and nine successful conversions. Penrith seized control from the opening stages and never allowed the Tigers into the contest, racing to a 36-0 halftime lead before piling on further points after the break.
The Panthers’ relentless attack overwhelmed the Tigers across the park, with their outside backs and forwards regularly finding gaps in a defence that struggled to contain the constant pressure. Penrith’s depth was also on display as several players produced standout performances in a comprehensive team effort.
For the Tigers, it was a difficult afternoon that quickly unravelled. Errors, missed tackles and a lack of field position left them unable to mount any meaningful challenge, with the side failing to trouble the scoreboard in a performance coach Benji Marshall later described as unacceptable.
The victory was not only Penrith’s biggest-ever winning margin but also one of the largest recorded in NRL history. It reinforced the Panthers’ status as the team to beat in 2026, while the Tigers were left searching for answers after one of the heaviest defeats the club has suffered.
