All Whites midfielder Marko Stamenić has secured a move to the English Premier League with Nottingham Forest, with an initial loan to Greek club Olympiacos for the 2024/25 season.
The 22-year-old, who recently celebrated a league and cup double with Red Star Belgrade, was acquired for approximately €5.5 million (NZD $9.6 million), marking the second-highest fee ever paid for a Kiwi footballer.
Stamenić will eventually team up with All Whites captain Chris Wood at Forest. Spending the upcoming season at Olympiacos, a club with a rich history and consistent participation in the UEFA Champions League, is viewed as ideal for Stamenić’s development before he joins Nottingham Forest for the 2025/26 season.
The move follows big interest from other European clubs, including a near-deal with Coventry City. Stamenić’s journey began at Wellington as a student at St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream, the Ole Academy and Western Suburbs, after which he gained prominence at the 2019 Under-17 World Cup.
