The DTNZ News Network is an initiative designed to optimise Daily Telegraph NZ’s discoverability, and thereby reach a wider audience.
The network comprises the following channels and ‘information hubs’: Asia, Auto, Business, Cosmos, Crime, Farming, Sports, Nature, Origins, Pacific, Politics, Royals, Showbiz, Travel and Viral.
Each of these ‘niches’ attracts a large international following online, with millions of readers and users searching for, and consuming these types of stories every day. It is important that DTNZ is optimised to reach these potential readers, with search engines and social media platforms favouring focused interest, or niche, authority in their rankings. A key part of this optimisation is categorising these stories in a proper hierarchy, which DTNZ has lacked to date.
Higher rankings means greater exposure, and this will enhance DTNZ’s ability to spread its core messages – personal freedom and individual rights, anti-war, equality before the law, and anti-globalism, and to establish a connection with, audiences that might not have otherwise have found us.
The DTNZ News Network operates in the background of the main DTNZ website. Only a small section on the homepage and on each article will show the latest DTNZ Network News stories, as the purpose of the News Network is to increase DTNZ’s discoverability across social media and internet search, and not to fill pages and sections with content.
