Auckland FC is working to identify and ban individuals involved in anti-social behaviour during Saturday’s A-League match against Western Sydney Wanderers, where one person was arrested for assault and another for disorder.
The victim, an Australian national, required surgery for facial injuries.
Videos circulating on social media show aggressive exchanges and objects being thrown between fans, with children present in the crowd.
Club CEO Nick Becker condemned the behaviour, stressing it was the first such incident in an otherwise positive season, and vowed to uphold the club’s inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere.
Police investigations are ongoing, and stadium officials say security and management practices will be reviewed.
