Celtic produced a stunning late comeback to crush Hearts’ long-awaited title dream and secure a fifth straight Scottish Premiership crown in a dramatic final-day showdown at Celtic Park.
Hearts, chasing their first league championship since 1960 and the first by a non-Old Firm club in 40 years, looked set to complete a historic triumph after Lawrence Shankland headed them in front before halftime.
Needing only a draw, the Edinburgh side were minutes from glory before the match turned on its head. Arne Engels equalised from the penalty spot in stoppage time of the first half, before Daizen Maeda fired Celtic ahead in the 87th minute after a VAR review overturned an offside call.
Callum Osmand then sealed a remarkable 3-1 victory deep into stoppage time as jubilant Celtic fans spilled onto the pitch. The result handed Celtic a record 56th league title, overtaking Rangers, while interim boss Martin O’Neill capped an extraordinary return by guiding the club to another championship triumph.
