Chelsea have recorded the largest pre-tax loss ever seen in the Premier League, reporting a £262 million deficit for the 2024–25 season, surpassing the previous record set by Manchester City in 2011.
The loss comes despite the club generating £490.9 million in revenue—its second-highest figure—and enjoying a successful campaign that included winning the UEFA Conference League, the Club World Cup, and finishing fourth in the league.
Since BlueCo’s takeover in 2022, more than £1 billion has been spent on new signings, largely focused on younger players tied to long-term deals.
While the club maintains it is operating within financial regulations such as the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, UEFA has already issued a €26.7 million fine for breaches related to squad cost controls and continues to monitor Chelsea’s finances over a multi-year period.
