The Dragons are reportedly set to offer Fonua-Blake more than $1 million a season to return home to Sydney.
Already the highest paid prop in the game, Fonua-Blake had sought an early release from his contract on compassionate grounds this year in order to live closer to his parents. While Warriors management eventually convinced him to remain at the club for next season, Fox News Australia have reported Dragons coach Shane Flanagan is keen to pursue the Tongan international for 2025.
Fonua-Blake’s contract with the Warriors runs until 2026.
A number of St George Illawarra players who also represent Tonga have been ‘in Fonua-Blake’s ear’ in order to convince him to make the move, including Hame Sele, Moses Suli and Ben Murdoch-Masila.
Talks are expected to ramp up further when Fonua-Blake returns to Australia from holidaying in Bali shortly.
Last week Warriors management confirmed Fonua-Blake had requested an earlier release, which they were considering.
