Jacob Duffy’s five-wicket haul dismantled West Indies for 128 on the third day in Wellington, handing New Zealand a comfortable nine-wicket victory and their first win of the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle.
After West Indies were bowled out cheaply in their second innings, New Zealand required just 56 runs, which Devon Conway and Kane Williamson chased down swiftly after lunch.
Duffy’s spell capped a dominant bowling performance supported by Michael Rae, while earlier half-centuries from Conway and debutant Mitchell Hay had given the hosts a useful first-innings lead.
The result gives New Zealand a 1–0 lead in the three-match series, while West Indies remain winless in the current WTC cycle ahead of the final Test in Mount Maunganui.
