Police say confidential information from members of the Whangamatā community has led to the disruption of a methamphetamine supply operation and the arrest of a local man.
On Wednesday 10 December, Police executed two search warrants at separate Whangamatā addresses, uncovering about 16 grams of methamphetamine along with items used in the drug’s distribution.
A 34-year-old Whangamatā man has been charged with possessing methamphetamine for supply and obstructing Police, and has been remanded in custody. He is due to reappear in the Waihi District Court on 15 December. Sergeant Will Hamilton said the operation was the direct result of public tip-offs, crediting community members for helping prevent significant harm.
Police have reiterated their zero-tolerance approach to drug offending and are urging anyone with information about drug-related crime to contact Police via 105 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
