England are considering former New Zealand star Tim Southee as their fast-bowling consultant for the upcoming home summer, following James Anderson’s unavailability due to his playing commitments with Lancashire.
Southee, New Zealand’s all-time leading wicket-taker and a friend of England coach Brendon McCullum, would join fellow Kiwis McCullum and Jeetan Patel on staff if appointed.
England faces a challenging season with a Test against Zimbabwe, a series against India, and the Ashes ahead, while injuries to key pacers leave the bowling attack inexperienced.
Other candidates are also being considered, and Anderson may return to the coaching setup for the Ashes later in the year.
