South Africa surged to the top of the Rugby Championship table with a 67-30 win over Argentina at King’s Park in Durban, led by a record-breaking 37-point haul from first five Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who scored a hat-trick of tries and surpassed Percy Montgomery’s single-test points record.
The Springboks also crossed through Malcolm Marx, Cheslin Kolbe, Morne van den Berg, Pieter-Steph du Toit (twice), and Manie Libbok, while Argentina replied with tries from Santiago Chocobares, Tomas Albornoz, and a penalty-try, trailing only 25-23 at halftime before being overwhelmed in the second half.
The result leaves South Africa on 15 points ahead of New Zealand (14), with Australia on 11 and Argentina eliminated on 9. Captain Siya Kolisi urged focus for next weekend’s decisive clash at Twickenham, while Argentina rued costly mistakes and an injury to scrumhalf Gonzalo Garcia.
