FIFA says it expects all 16 host cities to be ready for the 2026 World Cup despite US President Donald Trump suggesting matches could be moved from certain US venues for security reasons.
The governing body reaffirmed that safety remains its top priority but noted that governments are ultimately responsible for public security.
Trump earlier claimed that FIFA president Gianni Infantino would back relocating games from cities like Boston if conditions were deemed unsafe.
Eleven of the 16 host cities are in the US, with others in Canada and Mexico.
Trump, who has also appointed himself head of a White House World Cup task force, hinted similar action could apply to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
