India secured a commanding 295-run victory over Australia in the first Test in Perth, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Dismissing Australia for 238 late on day four, India’s pace duo Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj dismantled the top order, supported by decisive contributions from spinners Washington Sundar and Nitish Rana.
Despite spirited resistance from Travis Head (89) and Mitchell Marsh (47), India’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance to seal the win.
The victory marks India’s fifth win in nine Tests in Australia since 2018, a record matched only by the West Indies in recent times. Both teams now eye the World Test Championship final as the series moves to Adelaide for the second Test on December 6.
